Songs of Christmas – Our Song
Music is everywhere at Christmas, from complete chart-toppers, carols, children's tunes, and more ... music is always around us, but seemingly never more than at Christmas time. This month, we’ll look at the songs of a teenage girl, a respected priest, a group of angels, and an old man who will bring us to the very heart of Christmas, showing us the joy and peace that comes from meeting a baby who lay in a simple food trough and changed eternity.

“What comes into our minds when we think about God is the most important thing about us."  A.W. Tozer spoke these words many years ago, and the songs we've discussed in our Songs of Christmas series have highlighted this truth.  Today we conclude our series by looking at what our songs should be - that is, how do I respond to what the Bible tells me about this Baby that changed the world.

“My eyes have seen your salvation, which you have prepared in the sight of all nations: a light for revelation to the Gentiles, and the glory of your people Israel."  These words were spoken by a faithful, devout man who had longed to see God's promised coming all his life.  Shortly after the advent of the very first Christmas, he was able to sing this song with great joy ... find out what impact it holds for us today as we continue our Songs of Christmas series today.

"Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace among those with whom he is pleased!"  These words capture the entire song that a group of majestic, celestial beings cried out 2000 years ago, announcing the most reality shaping event in all of recorded history. Today we dig into the impact these words still have on our world so many years later.

The songs we sing are more than the music, more than the style, more than the art ... the songs we sing tell the stories of our hearts.  Today we look at the song of a teenage girl who had just found out that she would be mother to the very son of God.

Louder Than Words – Week 8 (James 5.13-20)
The letter of James (in the New Testament) shows one of the church's early pastors going about his work of confronting, diagnosing, and dealing with areas of misbelief & misbehavior that had turned up in congregations committed to his care. DEEP & LIVING WISDOM is the topic. Now WISDOM is not primarily knowing the truth, although it certainly includes that. It is also the skill of living out that truth. What good is TRUTH if we don't know how to live it out? And what good is INTENTION if we can't sustain it? Join Grace Family for this series of conversations... seeking God's WISDOM so our lives will become Louder Than Words.

We all know that pain and suffering are a part of life ... it's an inescapable reality.  So many of our prayers (whether or not we would call ourselves religious) are centered on asking for some sort of healing - recovery from a disease, an injury, or a tragic accident.  And God DOES want us to pray about those things, but we discover today that the healing that God wants us to pursue is something much deeper, much more abiding that we could really imagine.

We discovered over the last 6 weeks in our Louder Than Words series (looking at an ancient letter written by Jesus' brother James) that what we DO speaks much louder than what we SAY ... but we've also learned that what we DO is determined by what we really BELIEVE.  Pastor Tim challenges us to wrestle with the notion that the coming return of Jesus at the end of all things should having an impact on how I live today.
