Come to Worship – Week 4 (Bend Your Knee)
bulletin-header-1

Christmas time brings many different memories, different feelings.  It can be so full with “stuff” that we miss the big impact behind it all.  2000 years ago, something remarkable happened.

Everything changed in a moment. When Jesus was born, He gave us the chance to be known, accepted, and forgiven. When we experience His love, we can’t help but Come to Worship.
______________________________

The end and the beginning of worship is found in this answer: "To whom do I bend my knee?  Before whom do I humble myself?"

Worship is about recognizing the worth, the truth, and the authority of another. And if we rightly understand who God is and what He has done, we will gladly, joyfully worship Him.

In all our talk of "worship" in the church, it seems that we have a hard time actually defining it.  If we're supposed to do is, then it is pretty important that we know what it is! Today, we walk through some of what worship is not, but - more importantly - we discover with it really is all about.

When Life Is Hard – Week 4
sermon-banner (Medium)Life is hard ... really hard.  There are times of joy and seasons of happiness, but a thread of difficulty seems to be constantly woven through the fabric of our lives.  What can we do, when the bottom falls out from under us, when nothing seems to go right, when we’re lost and alone and afraid?

Welcome to the story of two widows & a farmer in an out-of-the-way village, the story of RUTH, an account of an inconsequential outsider (from a human perspective) whose life turns out to be essential (from God's perspective) in telling HIS COMPLETE STORY. Was her life easy? Not at all. Neither is yours. That's where our learning can begin ...

Remembering all that has happened in the story of Ruth so far, Pastor Tim points out (in our final week of this series) the remarkable truth that this short Bible book demonstrates throughout it's pages:  that we, like Ruth, have a Redeemer who bore the cost to save us and love us and guarantee us a hope and a future.

During our 3rd week in the series, Pastor Tim walks us through the reality of hard times and a biblical response to understanding these hard times, how to move through them.  He points us again to how God worked in the life of Ruth and what we can learn about our own difficult situations and several key points to remember.

During our 2nd week in the series, Pastor Tim reminded us how real, close, and personal hard times are, and guided us through what should be a practical and immediate response to the hard times of those around us.  He also walked us through the next chapter in the story of Ruth, showing us that her initiative, integrity, and humble acceptance of assistance made all the difference in her tale.

During our first week in this series, Pastor Tim walks us through some of the hard times he has seen and endured, and points us to a hope in God that transcends anything that this world has to offer.  We're reminded to remember several things in the midst of heartache, suffering, and pain that make all the difference, in this life and the next.

    Scandal Proof – Week 7
    scandal-series-2015b (2)

With scandals all around us, in the news, in our communities and families, what does God have to say about how to avoid these disasters. His word is clear and is based on relationship – not rules. God’s relationship with us through the person of Jesus Christ transforms our lives and allows us to live a “scandal proof life”.

This week, we explore what the Bible says about truth-telling, one of the easiest commands to "fudge" on in our daily living. Explore with us what God says about the value of truth and our roll in proclaiming it.

This week, we explore what the Bible says about stealing ... and it's more than simply swiping an extra cookie when grandma isn't looking. Holding on to the adage, "If it's not yours, then it's not yours," we explore how deep this commandment goes, touching virtually every area of our lives.  Come along for the journey!

This week, we look at one of the "least popular" commandments that God has laid out in our world today: adultery.  Our world is saturated with sexual images, innuendos, and ideals, all telling us that the words of the Bible on this topic are antiquated and repressive.  Walk with us as Pastor Tim looks at the standard Jesus set for us and how it really is a freeing command and not an oppressive one.

This week, we examine what many might think is the simplest of all commands:  do not murder.  While simple on the surface, there is much more below - and Pastor Tim walks us through the rich meaning that this command truly holds.
