FREE! Week 4 (Galatians 3.1-3.14)
Series: FREE!
sermon-header

FREE!  The mere word quickens the pulse. We'll learn what it means to be free and what a radical difference it makes as we look at the book of Galatians, centered on the good news about Jesus and the implications for our lives.  This good news is not just something that "saves us" ... it can and should sustain us as well.

This week, we discover that just like God's Grace is unconditional to us, so also should our trust in Him be unconditional.

At our core, everyone of us longs to connect to something bigger than us.  We pursue meaning and purpose in many places.  But all this world has to offer is ultimately empty - something called a chasing after the wind.  But there is a grand story that calls to all of us because the Author of that story designed us and this world, and He has a place for each of us in that story.

God's desire for all of people of all times is that they would follow Him ... not simply to have a favorable of Him, but to really, really, wholeheartedly follow after Him and unite our souls to the One who made them.  We discover that God wants FOLLOWERS, not just FANS.

If our movie choices tell us anything about ourselves, it's that we're desperately seeking heroes in our lives ... those larger-than-life figures of epic power and proportion.  We look to these mythical ideals to give us a sense of hope in surpassing unsurpassable odds, in a world oft gone mad around us.  We learn today that God has ordered His creation not for "super" people to sweep onto the scene ... rather, He works through ORDINARY PEOPLE to accomplish INCREDIBLE THINGS.

All of us are tempted to enter into a slow fade ... a gradual slipping of our convictions to simple beliefs and eventual opinions.  We see in today's message how this manifested in the history of God's people and learn an important lesson for what God expects of us today - and the blessings that result if we apply that lesson!

The Jewish nation was loved, called, lead, and pursued by God starting with the story of Abraham.  However, they pursued their own passions and sinful, selfish pursuits, rejecting God as King and seeking a man to replace Him.  This struggle continues for us today, and we look at what it means to see God as the true King and to respond to Him in light of His rightful place.

Today, we discuss some of the story of Moses, often referred to as the deliverer of Israel.  We see how God rescued him from all sorts of things ... and did so with a very important plan in mind, one that includes us today, thousands of years removed.

The "stories" we read in the Bible are more than just pieces of literature or tales told to kids ... the words we read in what God has revealed to us weave together a powerful tapestry of life, informing how we were designed to live and what God desires from us.  We see this today in the life of Joseph in a story that speaks to us in our places of hopelessness and difficulty, showing us how we can press onward into what our future holds.
