Scandal Proof – Week 5
scandal-series-2015b (2)

With scandals all around us, in the news, in our communities and families, what does God have to say about how to avoid these disasters. His word is clear and is based on relationship – not rules. God’s relationship with us through the person of Jesus Christ transforms our lives and allows us to live a “scandal proof life”.

This week, we look at one of the "least popular" commandments that God has laid out in our world today: adultery.  Our world is saturated with sexual images, innuendos, and ideals, all telling us that the words of the Bible on this topic are antiquated and repressive.  Walk with us as Pastor Tim looks at the standard Jesus set for us and how it really is a freeing command and not an oppressive one.

The word “theology” most simply means “the study of God.” Christian theology is digging into God’s Word – the Bible – to discover what He has revealed about Himself. When we do this, we come to know Him as Creator of all things, Sustainer of all things, and Judge of all things. He is the Alpha and Omega, the beginning and end of all things.  This summer we will be exploring the basic, foundational beliefs of who we are as Grace Family Church.

Today we conclude our 3-month journey through what we believe as a church family by looking at our Ethos, our ways and habits of living.  Too often, it is easy to accumulate more knowledge without being transformed by that knowledge. We look at three different times Jesus talked about what we should do differently if we are following Him.

Today we finish our journey of looking at the area of theology sometimes called Eschatology, or "Things I Believe About the End Times."  Without an over-emphasis (mania) or a fear (phobia) of this topic, we discuss a basic timeline of events for the end times, focusing mostly on the truth that God has determined the end, that Jesus will return one day, and that God is in control.

Today we continue our journey by looking at the area of theology sometimes called Ecclesiology, or "Things I Believe About the Church."  We discuss the basis of how God desires for His people to function as a called out gathering of Jesus followers.  The church is not a building, a denomination, or even a social club ... the church is the living, breathing Body that Jesus lived and died to save.
